Discover the whole of Skåne
Österlen is nearby and a solace for the soul. The billowing landscape, small idyllic fishing hamlets and apple orchards attract lots of visitors every year. Why not visit the colourful and inviting coastal town of Simrishamn? Another popular destination with visitors is Ale’s Stones, the biggest ship barrow in the Nordic countries. Located high up on the ridge, by the fishing hamlet of Kåseberga, it offers stunning views of the sea.
The north-eastern part of Skåne offers exciting nature. The internationally noted Krisitanstads Vattenriket Biosphere Reserve is one of the most species-rich nature areas in Sweden. Get close to nature on a river boat or canoe. Kristianstad has a cosy city centre with good shopping and the interesting Regional Museum. Other exciting visitor attractions include Wanås Castle and Tykarp Cave.
If you’re interested in gardens, you should visit northwest Skåne. In Helsingborg, there is Sofiero Palace and Park, an experience all the year round, and absolutely fabulous when the 10,000 rhododendron bushes flower in the spring. Take the opportunity to hop on the boat across to Elsinore (20 min) and visit Hamlet’s castle Kronborg. Stop at Fredriksdal Museums and Gardens and Norrviken Gardens in Båstad. And don’t miss a visit to Båstad in July to experience some world-class tennis!
